About me
Since retiring from a busy career as a
corporate archivist I have had more time to focus on my skills as an author,
poet, editor and artist, as well as my love of travel and wine appreciation.
I want to share some of the fruits of these
activities with you in this blog and look forward to receiving your comments
and hear about your interests.
Writing
I am the author and editor of six of
published volumes of non fiction and a work in progress about my reminiscences
of Johannesburg,
entitled In Search of My City. My poems have appeared in nine anthologies
and I have contributed biographical articles to dictionaries of biography. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography
published my definitive group biography of the Randlords in an online edition in 2006.
Editing
I find editing both challenging and
stimulating and my extensive experience includes non fiction, fiction, poetry
and technical articles. In 2009 I judged
the Writers 2000 annual poetry competition.
Painting
As an artist I enjoy working in different
media. From painting in watercolours
only for some years I have extended my range to include oils and pastels and to
use my own digital photographs as references.
I was honoured to be invited to participate in Art in the Garden Exhibitions
in 2010.
Examples of some of my paintings can be
viewed under this heading.
Cards
The idea of printing a selection of my
paintings as greeting cards
came to me at the time of my first
exhibition. These cards can be
reproduced in sizes suitable for framing and posters.
Esoteric
I offer personal readings of natal charts
(Astrology), Angel cards and Akara Numerology.
The latter modality, meaning Circle of Light, was introduced to the
Western World from India,
by Yogi Bhojan.
Winetasting
I am a graduate of the Cape Wine Academy and will conduct wine tasting
and wine appreciation courses for small groups.
